Senior multinational executives contribute ideas on Shanghai's future growth

The 12th China Daily CEO Roundtable was held on Friday and Saturday in Shanghai, the country's vibrant economic powerhouse. Shanghai Mayor Han Zheng met with the delegates on Saturday morning and highlighted the city's planned growth blueprint.

Addressing on the forum, with a theme of "the World's Shanghai: 2020", Zhu Ling, editor-in-chief of China Daily said the forum is to build up a platform for multinational companies to know more about Shanghai and foster partnership with the city following many leading companies' recent move to transfer their regional headquarters into the city.

"We hope this roundtable will eventually grow into a global network of global executives," Zhu said.

About 35 Fortune 500 companies' high-profile executives such as Bayer, Carrefour, Siemens, Honeywell, Eastman Kodak and others attended the 2-day forum to discuss and contribute ideas on future growth strategies for the business hub in the coming 15 years.

China Daily CEO Roundtable is a platform developed by China's only national English newspaper group for multinational companies to discuss and communicate on important issues of China's economic and social activities. About 500 CEOs or other leading executives firms and government organizations have attended the roundtable initiated in 2004.
