According to reports of Economic Times
and Plan & Investment News of Vietnam, BHP-Billiton
of Australia, Chalco of China and some other countries are
planning for more cooperation in Vietnam to exploit the
Dak Nong Aluminum Mine. These reports also talked about
the distribution and development of aluminum resources in
Vietnam.
According to Plan & Investment News,
BHP-Billiton of Australia, the world largest aluminum group,
plans to invest US$40 million in prospecting the aluminum
and bauxite resources of Dak Nong. If the prospecting results
meet expectation, BHP-Billitoin will invest another US$160
million to develop the aluminum and bauxite resources of
Dak Nong to produce alumina. In May 2004, BHP-Billiton was
approved to prospect the Dak Nong mining area in cooperation
with the Ministry of Industry of Vietnam, and worked out
a prior feasibility study report on the development of aluminum
and bauxite ores and the production and exportation of alumina.
