The Development of the Global Stockbreeding

In 2002, according to the statistics from FAO, the total output of meat, eggs, milk amounted to 245.047 million tons increasing by 3.2% over the previous year, 58.102 million tons increasing by 1.7% and 598.686 million tons increasing by 1.7% respectively. In 2002, the output of sheep wool dropped again, amounting to 2.221 million tons, down by 2.3% over the previous year. As for the output of meat in 2002, the global output of pork, beef, mutton and poultry amounted to 94.186 million tons up by 3.2% over the previous year, 60.978 million tons up by 2.9%, 11.549 million tons up by 0.8% and 73.869 million tons up by 4.0% over the previous year respectively.

As for meat, the output of China in the year of 2002 amounted to 65.865 million tons, topping the rest of the world. The following ones were USA 39.027 million tons, EU 36.244 million tons and Brazil 16.605 million tons.

As for eggs, the output of China in 2002 amounted to 24.627 million tons, followed by Japan with 2.512 million tons.

As for milk, the output of EU members in 2002 amounted to 125.616 million tons, leading the rest of the world. The following ones were India about 85 million tons, USA 77.021 million tons and Russia 33.467 million tons.

As for sheep wool, the output of Australia in 2002 amounted to 0.607 million tons, leading the rest of the world, followed by China 0.307 million tons, New Zealand 0.232 million tons and EU 0.173 million tons.

The export sum of live animal in 2001 totaled US$8.49 billion, down by 7.8% over the previous year. The four nations with most export amount of live beast and poultry were EU (with 15 nations), Canada, USA and Australia, and the four nations with most import amount of live beast and poultry were EU (with 15 nations), USA, Canada and Japan.

The total export amount of meat in 2001 was 24.726 million tons and the total sum was US$45.75 billion. The five nations with most export amount of meat were EU (with 15 nations), USA, Brazil, Australia and Canada, and the six nations with most import amount of meat were EU (with 15 nations), Japan, USA, Mexico, Russia and Canada.

The export sum of eggs totaled US$1.46 billion. The three nations with most export amount of eggs were EU (with 15 nations), USA and China, and the four nations with most import amount of eggs were EU (with 15 nations), USA, Russia and Japan.

The export sum of milk products totaled US$26.91 billion. Among them, the five nations with most export amount of milk powder were EU (with 15 nations), New Zealand, Australia, USA and Argentina, and the five nations with most import amount of milk powder were EU (with 15 nations), China, Brazil, Japan and Russia. And the five nations with most export amount of cheese were EU (with 15 nations), New Zealand, Australia, USA and Argentina, and the four nations with most import amount of cheese were EU (with 15 nations), USA, Japan and Russia. And the three nations with most export amount of butter were EU (with 15 nations), New Zealand and Australia, and the four nations with most import amount of butter were EU (with 15 nations), Russia, USA and Japan.

The total export amount of sheep wool in 2001 was 1.014 million tons and the total sum was US$2.36 billion, a slightly decrease over the previous year. The four nations with most export amount of sheep wool were Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Uruguay, and the two nations with most import amount of sheep wool were EU (with 15 nations) and China, accounting for 80% of the total import amounts.
