Overseas Investment

From January to June of 2003, Ministry of Commerce approved and registered 219 china-invested enterprises established overseas with contractual value of US$ 1.008 billion, of which china invested US$ 628 million. Foreign processing trade enterprises were 23 with contractual value of US$ 59 million.

By the end of first half of 2003, Ministry of Commerce approved and registered 7178 china-invested enterprises established overseas with contractual value of US$ 14.789 billion, of which china invested US$ 628 million. Foreign processing trade enterprises were 23 with contractual value of US$ 9.969 billion.

1. Foreign contracting project

From January to June of 2003, turnover of overseas projects were US$5.201 million, up by 41.9%, and value of newly signed contracts were US$8.426 million, up by 50%.

By the end of first half of 2003, total turnover of overseas projects were US$ 87.9 billion with contractual value of US$ 123.2 million.

2. Labor service cooperation

From January to June of 2003, turnover of overseas projects were US$ 1.47 billion, up by 12.5%, and value of newly signed contracts were US$1.26 million, up by 0.6%; Number of labor service sent abroad amounted to 85000, down by 9.2%; By the end of June, Number of labor service sent abroad amounted to 490,000, 15000 more than that in the same period of previous year.

3. Foreign design consultation

In January of 2003, turnover of overseas projects were US$ 2.49 million, up by 23%, and value of newly signed contracts were US$ 7.9 million, up by 4.4 times; number of persons engaged in design consultation sent abroad were 718,175 more than that in the same period of previous year.

From January to June of 2003, turnover of overseas projects were US$ 30.37 million, up by 30.9%, and value of newly signed contracts were US$ 90.38 million, up by 4.5 times.
