Brief Introduction: Authorized by the State Council of the People¡¯s Republic of
China, and founded in December 1984, Tianjin Economic & Technological Development
Area (TEDA) is an economic area mainly designed to host foreign-funded enterprises.
It enjoys preferential policies granted to the coastal development zones. It is
now one of the most successful areas attracting foreign investment to bolster
modern industry in China. It is only 140 km from TEDA to Beijing. TEDA is divided
into two major functional parts by the extension of Beijing-Tianjin-Tanggu Expressway
which traverses TEDA and leads into the port. The south part is the Financial-Trade-Living
Estate with a planned area of 8 square km2, and the north part is the Industrial
Estate with a planned area of 25 square km2. To meet the development needs, TEDA
has opened up its Chemical Industrial Park, Yixian Scientific and Industrial Park,
and Microelectronics Industrial Park outside. TEDA is situated in the center of
the Circum-Bohai Region and located in the ¡°golden belt¡± which is one densely
populated area with strong purchasing power, also one big market with advanced
economy and convenient transportation. TEDA has its incomparable advantages on
communications, commercial networks, information channels, science & technology,
qualified personnel, infrastructure, etc. Investors in TEDA have come from over
60 countries and regions, such as Motorola, AT&T, Coca-Cola, Pepsi-Cola and
Emerson from the US, Matsushita, Yamaha from Japan, Nestle from Switzerland, SEW
